General Conditions - Instituto Picasso

• Number of students per class

  There are 2 to 9 students per class.

  Age

  Minimum age is 16 years. Students who are under 16 can take part in our courses if they are accompanied by an adult.

  The average age is between 20 and 30 years, but we have students of all ages, as there is no age limit to learn a language.

  Placement test

  Every student has to fill in an online placement test in order to find out which level s/he needs to attend.

  Levels

  We offer 5 levels of 4 weeks each (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Superior I and II) These levels are subdivided in 2 units of 2 weeks.

  Furthermore, we offer preparation courses for the DELE exam which take place in April, (July) and October with a minimum number of 3 participants.

  The minimum duration of a course is 2 weeks, but it can be extended. The entire course programme comprises 20 weeks (5x4 Weeks)

  Certificate

  Every student who regularly takes part in the lessons receives a certificate and a confirmation of participation in the course at the end of his/her stay.

  Furthermore, students of the advanced an superior level can complete an extra test of the Picasso Institute.

  1 Spanish cooking class

  1 Flamenco dancing class per week

  1 cultural visit per week

  A fiesta, welcome or farewell party

  A night out to bars and pubs with a teacher (everyone pays for his/her own drinks)

  Work shops on cinema, literature, history, etc.

  Tutorials with study help

  Free access to internet in the school

  Students may borrow books from our library

  Classes

  The courses are from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.. In summer, we establish different time tables, depending on the number of students. The teaching unit of a standard class lasts 50 minutes.that of a private class 60 minutes.

  Course dates of the classes

  Our courses start for Beginners every other Monday. (see course calender). If you already know some Spanish you can start on any Monday.

  Bank Holiday

  If there are 2 public holidays in a two week session that figures as such in our official course calendar, one of them will be re-scheduled on several school days.

  Enrolment

  Enrolments can be made by filling in our enrolment form online, or the form in our brochure, by fax or by telephone, and signing up in our school office.

  After sending the enrolment you will receive a written confirmation by E-mail , fax or ordinary mail.

  Pre-payment/Payment

  Reservations are made by the student sending 40€ as enrolment fee and a deposit of 60 Euros for the course and 60 Euros for the room in a shared-apartment. The deposit for room and board with a family and that for a mini-apartment is half of the total cost of accommodation. The deposit should be sent to the school address by means of a Postal Money Order (Giro), by stating a credit card number and its expiry date (Visa, Master, 4B) , or a bank transfer to:

  If bank fees are deducted, we reserve the right to charge you this amount when you pay the outstanding balance which is to be paid in the school office on the first course day. The expenses for bank commissions should be covered by the student (i.e. mode of transfer OUR, though neither SHA or BEN).

  Cancellation/Abandonment:

  This should be notified by registered post no later than 4 weeks (dated postmark) before the course begins. Within this time limit, the initial deposit will be returned (except the enrolment fee). If you do not keep this time limit, no refund is possible. If the student abandons the course before it ends, or leaves the accommodation s/he has booked and has had access to, s/he is not entitled to any refund.

  Visa for China, Japan, Georgia, Russia

  Whoever has to apply for a visa and needs a written confirmation of the Picasso- Institute, has to pay the whole course fee in advance plus the enrolment fee of 40 Euros, and a pre-payment for the shared apartment of 60 Euros or half of the rate for one month of homestay with a family or a mini-apartment.

  The enrolment has to be made 10 weeks in advance, otherwise the student has to cover the costs for Express mail. If the visa is refused, we reimburse the amount deducting the enrolment fee of 40 Euros, after receiving a copy of the embassy's notification of the visa denial. If you cancel your language stay less than 4 weeks before the course starts, we keep the enrolment fee and the 60 Euro pre-payments for course and accommodation.

  Accommodation

  We offer following accommodations for the your stay : shared apartment (student flat) with double and single-rooms, hostfamily with half-board (or full board) and mini- apartment.

  • Liability: Students have to assume liability for dammages they caused.

  • Accommodation is available from Sunday before course starts until Saturday at 12 o'clock midday.

  • It is not allowed to have parties in the apartments and you are not supposed to make any noise after 10 p.m.

  • It is strictly forbidden to invite other people for overnight stays in the apartment.

  • Bed sheets for the shared apartment are provided by the Institute.

  • You have to bring towels yourself.

  • Cleaning, gas, electricity and water costs are already included in the lodging fee.

  • If you stay with a host family, please tell us your arrival hour so that we can inform them.

  PICK-UP Service:
  

  Service from the airport to the accommodatin can be arranged: 40€. Accomodation to the airport: 30€. Extra cost from 24:00h to 08:00h: 15€

  MEETING POINT:

  Once you have passed the exit from the luggage belt hall to the public waiting hall, you head right across the hall towards the exit. You pass the exit and leave the airport building. Outside you turn right towards the “Meeting point” (blue column) where the driver will be waiting for you.
  The driver can be a young man or woman wearing a red Picasso-t-shirt. He/she will hand over to you an envelope with the address and the keys of your accommodation. He/she will take you directly to your accommodation.
